6th week

I weighed in this morning and found that I lost .8 pounds this week. YAY me!!! That puts me at a total of 8.0 pounds. :)

I only have about 11 more to meet my goal. Once I hit that target I will concentrate on maintaining my weight again. I was able to keep it off for a few years the last time I lost weight and I am sure I can do the same this time. :)

My Handy Dandy Compact Camera

My little camera came in quite handy today.
First of all, someone found a tiny turtle at school and asked me to come rescue it. Turns out to be a baby aligator snapping turtle. Such a cute little fella.

Then Brandon had testing at Karate for his second stripe. :)

Then on the way home, this big guy was in the road. I tried to coax him back into the stream but I didn't want to get to close to his snapper.

I did it!!!!

Well I did two things really. I finally found a cat that I thought would be a good addition for our family and I got a new camera. :)
I got the new camera bug from Sandy. Now I have a nice compact camera that I can take anywhere and get a 10 pixel pic when ever the mood strikes me. It has rained all week end so I have been taking pics of the new cat. He is so abliging. :)
The cat, Grayson, has settled in nice. He is a year old and so laid back. Even the five pounds of canine fury that Bobba is doesn't rattle his cage. I think it helps that he is twice her size. I think I made the right choice with him. :)

So now I am at a total of 7.2 pounds and still headed towards my goal. :)

Another night at Karate lessons

Tonight in Karate class, the kids were learning to push through tiredness and fatigue and still be strong and focused. The teachers basically wore them out. Kick after kick, punch after punch, running in between, frog jumps, duck walks, bear walks, push ups, jumping jacks, you name it they did it.

After they got the kids all sweaty and worn out, they set up an obstacle course. At the end of the course a pad was set up for kicks. They had to kick at the pad, barely touch it, but not knock it over. If it got knocked over, everyone had to do push ups. They must have done atleast 50 push ups if not more.

On the way home, Brandon was talking non-stop about how much fun it was. He said, "Mom, I did a lot of push ups. I am getting stronger but I STILL have all this skinnyness."

Conversation in the Car

"Brandon, we need to stop at Ingles to get some groceries."

"Mom, can I get a lunchable. We only had 3 things for lunch today."

"Only 3 things? What did you have?"

"I had cornbread, milk and macaronni with little hams. And that is all they had at lunch today."

"Really? no fruit? no vegetables?"

"Well they had those brown beans I like but it had a nasty flavor on it. And they had those vienna orangeses*. You know I don't like those."

*translation vienna orangeses = mandarin oranges

Another trip inside Brandon's mind

Each time we go into the town of Griffin, we have to pass the county correctional institution. Brandon understands what the building is and why people go there. But he can not understand why when we pass the buildings the prisoners are allowed to play basketball and volleyball. Each and everytime he sees them outside playing he goes into a frenzy of questions. Much like these: "Mom, if they broke the rules that means they should lose priviledges(yes he even used this word). Why do they get to go outside and play fun games? Do they have TV? If they do they shouldn't. They broke the rules. It should be a punishment not play time.

I have to admit he poses some pretty good questions. I am constantly amazed at the thought he puts into his ideas. Maybe he was just born a politician?
